Storage Instructions

Description
Oxytocin is a cyclic nonapeptide hormone synthesised in the hypothalamus and released from the posterior pituitary. Its nine residues are closed into a six-residue ring by a disulfide bridge between the cysteines at positions 1 and 6, with a three-residue amidated tail. It differs from vasopressin at only two positions, which is why receptor selectivity is a recurring theme in the literature.
Research Context
Published preclinical work has investigated oxytocin's activation of the OXTR receptor and its coupling to Gq/phospholipase C signalling, alongside studies of smooth muscle contractility and social-behaviour paradigms in laboratory models. Supplied exclusively for in vitro laboratory research purposes.
