Description
Snap-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3) is a synthetic acetylated octapeptide (Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-Ala-Asp-NH2) that mimics the N-terminal region of SNAP-25, a core component of the SNARE complex. It is an eight-residue extension of the hexapeptide Argireline and has been studied in cell culture models for its competitive interaction with SNARE complex assembly and the resulting modulation of vesicle docking and neurotransmitter release. Supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed 10mg vial.
Research Context
Preclinical research has examined Snap-8 as a competitive modulator of SNARE complex formation, measuring its effect on catecholamine and acetylcholine release in neuronal cell lines and its influence on fibroblast contraction in three-dimensional skin-equivalent models.
